On October 2nd, 1968, 10000 university and high school students gathered around Plaza de las Tres Culturas to protest the upcoming Olympics. Around 6:15 PM, two flares where shot from a helicopter, signaling to surrounding soldiers to open fire on the unarmed protesters killing 300 to 400 civilians.
