I've read articles about how Ryzen 7 is loads better than Intel CORE i7 - is this only true for gamers?

The only game I play on my laptop is Solitaire. I am not a streamer. I might watch a TV series every now and then, but I can also just use our actual television for that. The only thing that I do fairly often where the processor matters is video-editing for course or work assignments. But this is like once or twice a month.

So, for someone who uses the laptop for daily needs, and the occasional video-editing, is Ryzen 7 still that much of a better value on a laptop over i7 for my needs?
