Please help me understand Slayer!

Genuinely I am not trying to hate, just very new to metal genres. I like this band's aesthetic and riffs a lot. But the second the vocals start I am completely thrown off. I know this style of vocal is popular in metal, but it's like there is something missing. Maybe a little bit of echo, or reverb, or even the mix, or I don't know what, but it sticks out from the rest of the track very heavily, and not in a good way. Is this just what thrash is like? I can't help but feel like I am missing something. FYI I am listening to Reign in Blood.

My only experience with metal albums that I can fully listen to comes from Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe (which I absolutely love, I don't care), Bullet for my Valentine's The Poison, and Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory - so a total newbie. Please suggest me something that sounds like these if Slayer isn't for me!
