WhatsApp keeps stopping!

So suddenly one evening my Whatsapp started crashing for no reason. The pop-up says "Whatsapp keeps Stopping". I have tried everything at this point, clearing cache, force stopping, allowing all permissions, restarting the phone. Nothing helped. Then I discovered that it only happens when I am online. When I turn off internet it behaves normally. Another thing I found was if I continuously opened app even after it throwing me outside, after 5-6 tries later it opens and I can use it. Was using it this way for past 2 days. But I was unable to pickup calls because I did not get a ring in the first place and also was discovering and replying to messages late.Today decided to backup and reinstall it but now it crashes at 'initialisation' screen before the loading gets completed. Now I can't even reply to messages like earlier. This is driving me nuts. Please help as I am missing important calls and messages.
