New(ish), low-tech, AWD/4WD, high mpg, cargo space, affordable
I'm looking for a new car (or at least from the last 10 years) within some specific parameters.
#1. I don't want all the tech which infests modern cars. An old-fashioned gauge cluster and media/climate controls are essential. A small (8" or less) display for maps and backup camera is fine, but I'd prefer it not to have touch capability. I'd also prefer not to have all the modern safety features like lane assist, but I'd also be happy if I could disable those features. Absolutely no on-board internet connectivity is a must.
#2. It needs to have decent clearance and AWD or 4WD.
#3. Decent gas mileage is essential. I'd prefer a plug-in hybrid, and I'm looking for 40MPG or better, but I'd accept 30MPG.
#4. It needs to have as much cargo space as my current 2001 Forester, and be of a similar size. Good visibility is also essential.
#5. I don't want to spend any more than $30K, preferably much less.
I've considered an older model Ford Bronco Sport, but I've heard they're not very reliable, and the pricing on used is absurd (nearly the same as new). The Mazda CX-50 hybrid is appealing too, but it's above my price range.
