Alphabetizing Fun

Mostly just for fun because we've been debating this.
Arcade Fire

  • A
  • ??

That one is pretty easy and doesn't seem like there is much debate. Where this started to go off rails for me and organizing with Discogs is:

Fiona Apple

  • A
  • F

My immediate reaction was A. But Discogs said F. This annoys me a little, but I can understand why a system like Discogs would put it there.

Now they get a little weirder

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

  • T
  • P
  • H?

Is "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers" the name of the band and it should go in T? Or is it P for Petty? H for Heartbreakers?

Dvorak - "New World" Overture - London Symphony Orchestra

  • D
  • L

I'll admit, this is a bit of a setup question. I'm guessing most say D here, but...

American Football (Covers)

  • A
  • V

Using the same logic as above, that the composer is where it belongs, should American Football (Covers) be under A for American Football? Or V for Various because different bands did the covers? Does it change because it's a direct copy of LP1? If it was just 9 random AF songs, would the answer be different?

Baby Driver Soundtrack

  • V
  • S?
  • B?

I think most put this in V for Various. But...

Interstellar Soundtrack

  • I
  • S
  • H
  • Z

One of the more interesting ones because I've heard so many answers. I for Interstellar. S for Soundtracks. H for Hans. Z for Zimmer.

I'm sure there are other examples of oddities like this. I'll probably just stick with whatever Discogs says, but it was fun thinking about all of these edge cases when doing something as simple as alphabetizing and cataloging a collection.
