The death of Vancouvers “underground” network
With the demise of Hudson’s Bay coming marks another change I see for Vancouver. While the connections have changed over time (and gotten worse) there was almost always a way to walk underground/indoors during the day between the Expo Line / Canada Line / Pacific Centre through the Hudson’s Bay building. With it closing I see this tiny part of Vancouvers underground or indoor network, if you can even call it that, close. If you included the expo line as part of underground you could go from Robson’s and Granville street all the way to the Olympic Cauldron underground/indoors (enter pacific centre, walk through Canada line station mezzanine to Vancouver centre mall, enter Hudson’s bay, exit into Granville station, take skytrain to waterfront, walk through waterfront centre, enter hallway to Pan Pacific Hotel, go down escalator, walk down hallway to Convention centre west, walk upstairs, exit door into Jack Poole Plaza).
