Non-law vs law degree for ‘MC’/top law firms?

Hello everyone, final year A-level student here. Maths, Spanish, Econ, Chem (2 A stars & 2As) predicted respectively for context.

I’m 70% considering a career in law and 30% management consulting/other.

I’ve applied for International Management degrees and am aiming for UCL, then doing a law conversion after. I thought it might be advantageous for applying for corporate law. Is there one of UCL, Kings and Warwick do you recon is most targeted? (I’ve applied to all 3)

However I’ve heard that ‘MC’/top law firms still have a preference for law degrees, and it feels like everyone I see on Linkedin getting TCs are 80% law grads and 20% oxbridge.

I’m also worried that ‘management’ degrees are often thought of as easy so I won’t seen as a competitive applicant compared to people with more rigorous degrees.

People who have had experience with top/MC law firms is this perception of mine true?

And if it is, should I consider doing a gap year and reapplying for law to better my chances of getting into such firms? Or anything else to improve my employment prospects? Should I switch to a ‘harder’ degree?

I’d be so grateful for any wisdom anyone has to share! And thanks for reading this far.
