Rodents chewed up and exposed wire near the engine... hoping for some advice on next steps.
Hey all. Just leased my first Subaru, a '25 Legacy. I love it. I've had it for like two months... I had to bring it in for the Cockpit Control Unit recall/update, and during the inspection they saw that some rodents had found their way into the hood of the car and chewed something up near the engine, exposing some wires. Thankfully the wires weren't chewed through. Because of the location of it, they are telling me that I need to get a new Engine Harness and 2 Gaskets, and labor/parts would be over $1800.
I'm really not a big car guy, and I leased a car to NOT deal with stuff like this. I have Geico insurance, and I think that my comprehensive coverage will cover it (after a $500 deductable...) but I'm worried it'll shoot my rates up. Plus I'm so confused about the specifics of Subaru's requirements for fixing things regarding lease agreement -- having to only use Subaru authorized parts/dealers.
Basically, I'm looking for advice on how to deal with this in the easiest, least expensive way. This is all new to me. Thanks to anyone who can help.
