Can I use this ship upgrade from Aquila to Caterpillar?

So years back I bought a Constillation Aquilla package on the second hand market on star-hangar. I think the in-game melt value is $230. I would really like to switch to the Caterpillar because I like the ship a lot more and feel like it would suit my hauling playstyle better, but I know basically nothing about trading ships and melting and upgrades.

I found that there is a "Constellation Aquila to Caterpillar" upgrade selling on star-hangar for $23. Could I use that to change out my Aquila to a Caterpillar? Sorry if it's a stupid question.
