boyfriend embarrassed by my SH scars

my(28) boyfriend(31) is embarrassed of my scars. they’re on my thigh so they’re only visible when i wear shorts or a bathing suit. any time i put shorts on, he’s stared and made remarks such as “i feel bad for you”, “you’re going out like that?”, “people are gonna look”, “everyone is gonna think i did/made you do that”, “what if someone asks about it?”, etc etc etc. making me feel so bad and uncomfortable that i change my entire outfit and essentially my mood. i say i don’t care about the scars, because i really don’t, but then i feel the need to cover them up for his sake :(
