Progression/litRPG Fantasy as a genre is basically just "watch this kid become a shadow daddy"

I have no idea if any of you will have any idea what I am talking about, but I saw someone mention Cradle in a comment and I am absolutely taking that as an excuse to get this one off my chest.

  • Shadow based powers? yep, pretty much all of them.

  • Tall and jacked? getting inexplicably taller is the most common trope behind shadow powers and half the page count of any prog fantasy novel is just finding more and more absurd ways to gym it up.

  • Emotionally repressed? Slaps the hood "You can fit soooo much brooding in this bad boy. Seriously, none of these fuckers ever deal with any of their emotional issues. Just imagine all the saving him from himself potential."

  • Mean to everybody but you? "I am vicious to my enemies and a saint to my allies, and I have no allies!" Is the third most common trope behind shadow powers and mid 20s growth spurts.

  • Intense and controlling? Yup.

  • Absolutely willing to dish out absurd acts of revenge for you? Have you ever heard of "Line Extinguishing"?
