Does familiarity apply to all variants of a weapon or do unique weapons not apply?

Say, for example, that I pick up the two legendary cattleman revolvers from the gunslinger quest. Does my familiarity with the base cattleman give me the stat boosts those two variant weapons have (I think Granger’s revolver has higher damage)?
