Recruiter told me my last company isn't a SaaS company....but it is

In my last job, I did the exact same thing the position is asking for. My company was in a particular industry whereas the potential job is at a industry-agnostic company, but that isn't what the recruiter said. The recruiter said, "We are seeking someone out of a SaaS company" and while my last company wasn't solely a SaaS company, it is a SaaS company. It has a full SaaS business with a subscription and software services for any customer. So I replied posting public links about the SaaS as a business, "While x has a variety of focuses, it is a SaaS company.  I was responsible for supporting the SaaS business.  If you reconsider, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.  Please see links below for more information." Crickets on the other end. Very frustrating because either the recruiter means "your SaaS sold something different" or she doesn't understand what a SaaS is. In either case, its not really relevant because i'm on the legal side. Should I follow up after a few days? Maybe I should have asked for clarity instead of "if you reconsider". In hindsight, I should not have let her off the hook so easily, but at the same time, how to be non-confrontational?

This has actually happened to me twice. Another recruiter said I didn't have the requisite experience so I replied with the following inline "comparison" and again, got crickets.

  • experience, preferably in a SaaS, technology, or high-growth company.  (7 years -> Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to support SaaS platform, including conception, go-to-market, and services.  Served as negotiator for xxxxxxx supporting SaaS platform with on premises, public/private cloud infrastructure, and managed service offerings;  Drafted and negotiated all B2B SaaS agreements addressing liability, indemnity, and risk allocation, including sales contracts with blue-chip customers.)
  • Strong experience in negotiating and drafting IT agreements and other commercial contracts. (Support SaaS platform with on premises, public/private cloud infrastructure, and managed service offerings.  Negotiated and finalized contracts with industry leaders x, y, z (IT, CLA, aspects of cloud services) for software development and deployment.)
  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR) and regulatory frameworks affecting SaaS businesses. (GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, open source, API data security, compliance.)
