Truck sounds like an impact driver when decelerating
Next day edit: this past summer I hit a deer that damaged my active grille shutter that had to be replaced. Everything has been fine but this morning while climbing around under my truck I saw one of the old shutter louver blades hanging out sandwiched between my radiator fan shroud and the plastic guard piece that pinch clips onto the bottom of the fan shroud. I got that piece out (didn't remove the guard) and I would say 3/4 of the volume is gone on that but there is still a noise so I'm going to let the truck cool down and then get back under it and take that guard piece off to see if I spot anything else in there. Thank you all for the help and ideas.
2018 ram 1500 4x4 ~80k miles and last night it started making sounds when decelerating but namely when the engine downshifts. It happened after I left the house and it stopped after my tires kicked a rock out so I figured that was it but today it's happening consistently and almost without fail.
-sounds like an impact driver driving an anchor (that clicking clutch sound they make)
-only happens when decelerating and when engine downshifts to slow truck
-nothing noticeable other than the noise (can't feel anything, no codes, no performance issues, turns fine w/ no noise)
-does not happen when going uphill but as soon as it levels out somewhat (even if it's slightly uphill) it starts up with it's bs
-sound coming from front left half of truck but I can't dial that in more due to road noise
-did not notice anything abnormal under the hood and i do routine oil changes even sometimes premature if timing works out better for me
Impact Drill SOUND Effect here's an example of the sound (just the clicking part of it)
I can't find anything on this one and after having to replace a broke washer and now taking my dog to the emergency vet because he got into something he shouldn't of I'm at my wits (and financial) end. Any help would be appreciated.
