Trans Day of Visibility and Resistance this Sunday!

Trans Day of Visibility is Monday, March 31st.

Two days ago a story was published on WRAL about senate bill 516 - bathroom bill 2.0.

Attacks on our trans brothers and sisters are increasing in frequency, even becoming normalized in places like Washington D.C. where Sarah McBride, the first openly transgender representative elected to congress, has had to face shocking attacks from her fellow congressional representatives. Public attacks range from deliberate misgendering of Representative McBride and using slurs in public meetings to refer to her, to having legislation introduced specifically banning her (and any other transgender person) from using the bathroom that corresponds with their identity in the House of Representatives.

Imagine what they say in private.

Socialist Alternative stands unequivocally with the rights of trans people to self identify their gender, to use the bathroom corresponding to that identity, to play on the appropriate sports team, and to have full access to gender-affirming care including for trans youth. For the significant percentage of people in our schools, healthcare facilities, and workplaces who oppose these rights, it needs to be made clear that attacks on trans people are intended to drive down the resources and strength of all working class people. In light of this, we are hosting a speakout and march this Sunday, March 30th, at 2 PM at Moore Square in downtown Raleigh.

Use the QR code in the post above or click here to RSVP to this event.

We are also having a public meeting Wednesday, April 2nd at 6:30 PM as a follow up - if anyone is interested in that details will be supplied at the speakout. Feel free to DM me for further information.
