Pre2020 shipping/fandom rant

2020 was an awful time for everyone, but i feel like something fandoms aren't speaking of is how before the outbreak, nobody really cared (or if they did they blocked and moved on like sane people) but after 2020 when all the internet tourists were stuck online and got into the more niche things, they didn't respect the rules put in place before them. like being respectful to people you dont agree with. honestly we need to gatekeep fandom again. we need to run the tourists out. they are ruining it for everyone! but that cant happen. because what can we really do about it? im not going to go to these people and tell them to die or leave the space, because thats not helping anyone. and its not like they listen when we explain that we arent hurting anyone and they can just block us and continue on. this is especially bad in older fandoms and the gacha game sphere. (Genshin impact, Honkai series, etc) im personally a part of the undertale AU fandom, (mostly dreamtale and the dreammare ship) and i have been sense i learned of undertale in 2018, and ive loved it ever sense. but what can we do when new people join this fandom? it doesnt really happen anymore because of how daunting it is to join the AU part of the fandom, but its so hard to think that my favorite artists and fanfiction writers get harrassed over this by the new generation of fans.

EDIT; yes i know that it didnt start in 2020, im pointing out how it wasnt as big before!! sorry for the confusion.
