Does anyone recall a playoff series where a team employed the defensive strategy “let Role Player X beat us,” and then proceeded to lose the series because Role Player X beat them?
The reasoning behind this strategy is that if a role player on the opposing team is dominating the ball — even when they get hot — they are taking away the ball from the opponent’s best player.
Does anyone remember this defensive strategy backfiring to the extent that the team deploying it lost the series?
