I think M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘The Happening’ is massively misunderstood
Anyone else out there genuinely, non-ironically enjoy this movie? I was expecting something terrible, and ended up getting a thriller/comedy that’s played 100% straight with some hilariously bad acting and a few genuinely disturbing moments. I didn’t feel like a single second of the movie was unintentional… it’s genuinely well directed and the cinematography is fucking gorgeous (Tak Fujimoto shoots the SHIT out of this film, my god).
It seems like he set out to make a non-serious B-movie and barely anyone understood that.
What say you, /r/movies?
