complete newbie looking for used gear

I’m looking on Ebay for used stuff, but don’t know what I should be looking for. I want to find something that is rechargeable (not a replaceable battery)—and one that is reliable, what brands should I be looking out for? I’ve seen people on here dissing the Garrett so I’ll stay away from that one, anything else I should keep in mind? Getting a pinpoint too, but not too worried about that.

I’ll be using it in fields and forests in the UK so something that is water resistant at least…
