Master rank feels like Russian Roulette right now. Is it going to settle down later in the month?
First time back in Master Rank for a while. Trying to get to the top with my Superheavy Samurai/Adventure/Synchron pile. I thought things were rough enough at the top of Diamond but it feels like night and day in terms of difficulty. In Diamond 1 last easy I had to routinely quit out of matches before they began to make sure I didn't rank up into Master, but now I'm pretty much having to fight for my life just to stay halfway through the rankings.
I don't want to say "toxic" when my own go-to play is to ideally handrip my opponent for 3 before their turn even begins, but it does feel extraordinarily cutthroat, especially for larger decks that emphasize engines over handtraps. Snake-Eye Fiendsmith engine stuff is everywhere, and it's going to be everywhere for the rest of the month at the very least.
I'm finding a lot of my wins currently just boil down to decking out my opponent when they drop Mulcharmies and Maxx C on me, assuming I don't get Droll'd first. But I've seen no shortage of other handtraps; even a Tenpai player dropping Framegear Delta on me.
Compounding that, Blue-Eyes feels extraordinarily robust I thought it was bad when Centur-Ion stole Crimson Dragon from Synchron players, but it's so much more degenerate in the hands of a Blue-Eyes player.
And then there's the matter of stun. I have been fortunate enough to not get Seventh Tachyon'd yet, but I know it's coming.
Would I be better off just biting the bullet and taking the time to learn how to play Snake-Eye Findsmith in this climate since obviously it's still the dominant deck in spite of all the countermeasures people are trying? Alternatively should I just wait it out and let more people from Diamond trickle up into Master while all the decks I'm dealing with right now get similarly filtered up into Master 1? Should I get my deck smaller and run more handtraps? Also have a Tenpai deck that I could probably rework too.
Definitely just trying to figure this climate out. It is what it is, and I just want to be able to have fun rather than feel like I have to do sweaty solitaire Maxx C punishes every time I'm actually able to play..
