Ranking every Mario kart super circuit nitro track theme

Hey everyone! Welcome back to my Mario Kart song ranking series!

Today, I’ll be ranking every Nitro track theme from Mario Kart: Super Circuit. I won’t be covering the retro tracks for this game. Honestly, Super Circuit has one of the most consistently strong soundtracks in the series. Even the lower-ranked tracks still sound good—there are no major misses here. Some songs are better than others, of course, but overall, this game really delivered. Let’s get into it!

13 — Boo Lake/Broken Pier

Placing this at the bottom was tough because it genuinely sounds good. Unlike tracks like Ghost Valley or Banshee Boardwalk from earlier games, this isn’t just a loop of ambient sounds—it’s a full song with a spooky vibe that fits the atmosphere of the tracks. That said, it just doesn’t hit as hard as the other songs in this game, which is why it lands at #13.

12 — Snow Land

When it comes to festive, winter-themed Mario Kart tracks, this one is probably the most forgettable for me. It’s not a bad song by any means—it captures a festive, chilly atmosphere well—but it just doesn’t stand out compared to the other snow themes across the series. Still a solid track, but it falls short of being memorable.

11 — Shy Guy Beach/Cheep-Cheep Island

This is a really charming beach theme. It has that laid-back, vacation vibe, and it’s a track I could genuinely listen to while relaxing by the ocean. However, in a game with such strong songs, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of the others. Still a solid, catchy theme that does its job well.

10 — Yoshi Desert

I usually don’t love desert tracks, but this one is an exception. It’s a catchy, upbeat song that keeps the energy up, and I love the little Yoshi sound effect from Super Mario World—such a nice touch. This track stands out for bringing more life and personality to a desert setting.

9 — Ribbon Road

From here on out, most of these songs are just certified bops. Ribbon Road has a playful, upbeat sound that captures the whimsical, toy-like theme of the track. It’s catchy and lighthearted, and while there’s not much else to say, it’s just genuinely fun to listen to.

8 — Circuit Theme

Like I mentioned in my Mario Kart 64 ranking, circuit themes in Mario Kart tend to be solid, and this one is no different. It has an energetic, upbeat feel that makes it a great backdrop for racing, and while it’s not my favorite circuit theme, it still stands strong.

7 — Riverside Park

Both Riverside Park and Lakeside Park do an excellent job capturing the jungle vibe. The melody here is catchy, and it feels like you’re navigating a dense, tropical area. It’s got a carefree energy that I really like.

6 — Lakeside Park

I gave this one the edge over Riverside Park because it just hits a little harder. The melody is more dynamic, and it has a sense of urgency that makes it stand out. It’s bouncy, catchy, and fits perfectly with the track’s more chaotic atmosphere.

5 — Rainbow Road

This Rainbow Road theme has a different vibe compared to others in the series. It’s upbeat, fun, and feels like a party in the sky. The intro especially hits hard, setting the tone for a finale track. While it may not have the same epic, grand feel as some later Rainbow Roads, it still captures that “final challenge” energy.

4 — Cheese Land

What can I say—this track is cheesy in the best way possible. I love the quirky sound effects that match the theme of a land made of cheese, and the melody is genuinely catchy. It’s such a playful and memorable theme, and I can’t help but smile when I hear it.

3 — Sky Garden

This song genuinely feels magical. It captures the essence of racing among the clouds and has a whimsical, dream-like vibe. It’s light, airy, and just sounds like you’re driving through a serene, heavenly landscape. Definitely a standout for me.

2 — Sunset Wilds

I’ve always loved this one. The intro makes it sound like you’re marching through the desert at sunset, and the rest of the song is just a catchy, energetic bop. It has a nostalgic, adventurous feel that makes it hard to forget.

1 — Bowser’s Castle

This song is incredible—it’s epic, intense, and perfectly fitting for a Bowser’s Castle track. The choir and heavy, dramatic instrumentation make it sound like a final boss theme, and it genuinely feels intimidating. I first heard it in Mario Kart Wii, and it immediately stood out to me. Fun fact: the intro’s first few seconds resemble Bowser’s theme from Super Mario 64, which is a really cool detail.
