Weight gain in unusual areas after lipedema surgery
Hi everyone, I’m very lucky that I was able to have surgery on my legs and arms to remove my lipedema. The surgeon did an excellent job, she’s known to be quite ruthless and uses several removal techniques. My limbs all healed beautifully with no issues.
I’ve noticed that my surgeries had an extreme and sudden effect on non-operated areas. After my leg surgery, I began noticing an increase of lipedema in my arms and got lipedema surgery for them about 16 months later. At the time I didn’t worry too much, or think that this was triggered by the liposuction. Now a few months later, my midsection and face, which were never an issue before, have also increased in weight and overall shape, which is quite noticeable.
I am being regularly looked after by lipedema/lymphoedema therapy specialists as I live in the UK where a formal diagnosis exists, and my limbs are measured every 6 months- there has been almost no fluctuation in size, so I’m not worried about lipedema returning. I’m quite careful about my diet (nothing extreme, just trying to be balanced) and workout regularly, and I still can’t shake that new weight.
I’m worried about that weight shift from area to new area. Has anyone experienced the same thing?
