New Glock Care: first timer

Picking up my first gun tomorrow! Glock 17 gen3 CA. Glock website says to clean and lubricate it right away before use. Shop owner says to put at least a couple hundred rounds through it first since it comes with that copper colored factory lubricant. Just want to start out caring for this thing properly so it lasts. Thoughts?
