What Pencil will the 11th gen use? A theory.
The next generation of iPad faces a problem. The 10 kept the original Apple Pencil, despite the lack of a lightning connector but it’s the last in the lineup to have that Apple Pencil and I can’t imagine they’re still making them. More likely it was a way to burn through old stock. Adding the Apple Pencil 2 support is possible, but seems silly now that it’s already superseded by the Pro, unless they have the same inventory problem. They could try to get rid of the pressure sensitive features and just use the usb-c one but it’s always a hard sell to take features away. That leave 2 options. 1) is it won’t be the only iPad in the lineup that uses the pencil 2, so the Mini will keep it. 2) They simplify the lineup. We get a version of the usb-c pencil that has pressure sensitivity and magnetic attachment, but not wireless pairing or charging and those become the only 2 offerings for all upcoming iPads.
I hope we get option 2. The 4 different versions available now are making things too complicated for anyone not tech savvy.
