Cancelling insurance during claim

We had a small incident yesterday where the wind pushed my door into another vehicle causing very minor surface scuffs. The other person took down my insurance info and I think they are going to make a claim.

I am planning to sell my vehicle this weekend so we would be cancelling the insurance. Do I have to wait for the matter to be settled before selling and cancelling?

The insurance is valid during this incident of course.
