Tryouts for next season
It’s important for people to understand how tryouts work… a friend shared this with me following two “birthday skates” with a first year coach building his team. This is not top level hockey, it’s third tier two months before tryouts. My friend asked if this is normal as my kids are older and been playing longer.
In the coming weeks/months kids are going to work hard on their stick-handling and shooting, preparing for tryouts. They’ll step on the ice ready to give 100% and not understand why they were cut when they were one of the top or mid-range players.
Coaches will give feedback on their ability, instead of being transparent.
If you need a team for the 2025-26 season, now is the time for outreach. It’s not right, but that’s how it unfortunately works.
