Fire code crackdown: Halifax-area schools ordered to remove décor

As a teacher, I can confirm that it is more than just “decor”. Flexible seating and cushions for students, anchor charts (that display important learning information), and even signs on the classroom door to welcome students, or name tags on hooks in the hallways have been ordered to come down.

My school has over 600 students and during our last fire drill, every single person was evacuated out of the building in 94 seconds.
