Don't you think Morikawa is having Date and Ippo's stories parallel each other?

Thinking back to when Morikawa did Date's background it shows him losing in humiliating fashion and then take time away from the sport and then have this itch to return and comes back like a freight train all the way back to the top because to people around him it looked like he had lost a part of himself. Similarly with Ippo he loses to someone he had no business losing to and then is taking time off, retired. Though it is pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain cell that Ippo will go back are the similarities between Ippo and Date going to show us to what lays further on in Ippo's storyline?
