Is it worth it to upgrade wedges? Currently gaming old Cg12s in a 50-54-58 with 10-12-12 bounce.

I got the 3 wedges for $100 CAD in 2022 when I upgraded my old lynx iron set (4-SW) to a mizuno 4-PW set I was fitted for.

I went with the 50-54-58 mostly for gapping. Full PW can carry about 140 at 46degrees, a little under 130 for the 50, the 54 is about 115 and the 58 is 100. Although on course 4/5 times I'm clubbing up and swinging just a bit easier as i try to avoid full shots with the cg12s. Spin rate on PW is usually about 9500 and all the wedges sit around there too on full shots.

I play in southern Ontario in Canada where the courses can vary wildly week to week depending on spring melt, rain, and how much the course waters their course. The bunkers are pretty much always hard and compact save for a few that have imported sand and maintain them better.

  1. Are my grooves starting to get worn as suggested by spin rates similar to my PW?
  2. Am I generally playing with too much bounce?
