When are you all taking drastic action?
I left after F1 for Aus. Wow it's different, currently I we have 6 Doctors for an average of roughly 15 patients including a fellow (IMG Consultant) and 2 training Regs. Nurses do all cannulas and bloods.
My interns have done about 3 cannulas over the last 6 weeks. I have only done a cannula in an arrest.
I go to theatre twice a week and assist as an F2, I get to do abscesses. I have clinic once a week. We get coffee shouted for us every single morning and sometimes we even get it twice.
I take home roughly £3.4k a month and every second day someone gets sent home early. I got £1.25k for professional development, aka I bought a new phone.
Things over there seem worse than when I left. Stop staying just for family, you barely see them and might get whisked off to any part of the country at a moments notice, I have 6 week of leave I can take in a chunk to see family etc. I have full autonomy over my specialties and career here, I even changed last minute because I heard one I was intending to do was shit basically.
I genuinely love my job, sometimes I even stay a bit later (get paid for it) for the banter. I work roughly 2 on call shifts a month and have 0 nights this year. Everyday I wake up and it's 20+ degrees, there's not a cloud in the sky. The beach is 15 mins away for a nice stroll and an ice cream watching the sunset (I'm always home for it).
