Black Cat by Candlelight

I am so proud of this canvas.

I did an enormous amount of drill swaps on this canvas and had to go through an absurd amount of metallic drills.

In the end, I feel like I created art with this.

It is a memorial canvas for my kitty who was the ripe old age of 18.

I changed portions of the black cat in the canvas to look more like my girl.

I wanted the ribbon in the book to look like fabric, so all pixie dust/mica coated drills.

I wanted the candle to glow and it mostly does (a couple of the colors should have been glow but unfortunately didn’t glow boo - it happens 🙂).

I wanted all of the metal surfaces to be metal, so they were fully metallic swapped.

I wanted the books to look like actual older books with fancy spines, so those are a mixture of metallic and mica/pixie (for the leather parts of the spines).

I wanted the moon and stars to glow - so I did that.

I wanted the moon to cast what looked like shimmering light through the windows, so those drills are mica/pixie.

Last, I wanted a few more personal touches. I used a cross stitch conversion site to do her initials and the years that my girl was born and the year she went on her trip over the rainbow bridge.

This is going to be framed and placed on the wall behind where all our animal family member’s ashes are.

I hope you enjoy the work that went into this one, because I am stonkingly proud of it.
