Will there ever be leaderboards?

Hi, been checked out since playing the first 2 weeks of the expansion, have there been any info/rumors about leaderboards coming anytime soon? I can't bring myself to play even tho I want to since there is no point atleast to me without leaderboards. Came as a surprise to me when I went to the horn at the docks to see I couldn't even compete there so I just did the last tier of the new raid and was done with the season. I'm looking forward to the next D3 season more than the next D4 season but leaderboards would make me interested again.
