Inherited this collection
I inherited this coin collection when I was in elementary school. It originally belonged to my uncle, who was killed in Vietnam, and has mostly remained untouched in a closet for over 30 years.
When I was a kid, I moved some of the coins into books, added a few of my own (though nothing really of value), and unfortunately cleaned a few with acetone. None of the coins have been professionally graded, but I did take the 1909-S VDB to a coin shop, where they estimated it would grade as AG (About Good) to G (Good). Overall, I’d say most of the collection falls in the Good to Very Good range.
The Lincoln Head collection is the most complete, missing only the 1922 Plain up to 1965.
I’m now looking for advice on how to properly store and organize these coins, as well as the best way to get them appraised. I want to be a good steward of this collection and ensure it’s preserved correctly. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
