Considering buying a used Civic for $10k - $16k, what generation would be best (8-10)?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a new daily driver and I'm considering buying a used Honda Civic.
I'd prefer a sedan or hatchback. Probably not an Si, and more than likely an automatic.
I'm not interested in a hybrid most likely for fear of having to replace a battery if it's an older or higher mileage car (or resale value if I have to convince someone else to buy a 14 year old hybrid with 160k miles off of me a few years down the road).
My budget is $10k - $16k, as I'm trying to do this in cash. I'm open to up to 120k miles, but the less the better.
It's looking like I could even get into a 10th gen with 60k - 80k miles on the higher end of that budget, but I'm wondering if older generations are still worth looking into?
Of the 8th, 9th, and 10th Gen Civics what would you recommend?
Is a 10th Gen obviously superior?
Are the 10th Gen CVT transmissions in these reliable? Is it any better or worse on the 1.5t vs 2.0?
Is an 8th or 9th still decent?
Are there particular years, engines, or transmissions from all 3 generations that I should definitely avoid?
Thanks
