I'm so nervous trying the bipolar medicine and need advice
I (f35) was diagnosed in my twenties with bp2. Also have had a lot of anxiety through my life and I had a rough time transitioning I to adulthood. I always thought there was something more going on though and that's why I'm finally doing an evaluation for adhd also. They're looking at my bp2 diagnosis too and are doing a re evaluation, which makes sense since I've been off bipolar medication for almost 8 years but still experience mild to moderate(?) hypomania now and then and low to moderate intensity depressions most of the year (yay it sucks). I do take SSRIs to keep the worst of the depression and anxiety at bay. But it increases my risk of hypomania. Also I learned that to be able to get treatment for adhd I need to be on a mood stabilizer.
Probably the doctor will prescribe lamotrigine but I forgot to ask if it is ok to combine with adhd medication. Anyone in this sub experienced with lamotrigine/bp2 and adhd?
I'm really scared of the infamous rash also but I'm trying to deal with the anxiety and catastrophisibg is on. Any advice on how to start slow to avoid that? Would love to hear positive experiences of lamitrigine.
Thank you for any advice 🙏🫂
