Stay in Richmond and go to Vancouver every day for a week

I'm searching for accomodation near Vancouver for a week in December. However, the prices near Vancouver Downtown are expensive. Then, I was thinking to stay in Richmond and move to Vancouver every day for a week using Canada Line. What do you guys think?

In terms of transport, is it better to go from Burnaby to Vancouver or Richmond to Vancouver?
