Maybe we weren't geeks?

I grew up loving comics, video games, skateboarding, roller blading etc.

I got called a geek. A lot. My walls are not covered in geekdom. My furniture is a lovely dark brown. My sheets are a solid color. I have a storm trooper bobble head someone gave me but most of my decorations aren't "GEEK"

I don't want to spend days talking about what I hate about my favorite franchises I just want to watch/read enjoy them and then move on with my life.

I feel like there are a lot of us that aren't hyper into "nerdy" things. I just watched a movie that "Real Fans" have been trashing and I enjoyed it.

I'm starting to think I'm not a geek. Just that the pop culture I liked as a kid was considered "Geeky" but now is just main stream pop culture.

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Geeks. I just think a lot of us got labeled as such if we thought Star Wars was awesome or enjoyed an Indiana Jones movie.

I just don't fit in with geek culture. I want to think a lot about things that matter to my real life. But my entertainment is just that. Just something fun I do to be entertained.

I'm starting to realize that when people complain about "General Audiences" that they're talking about me. I'm general audience. Anyone else?
