Really worth it to stay “On Property”?

My gf and I are planning on heading to Universal in June (I know it’s pricey then, especially with Epic opening) and we’re trying to really weigh the cost/benefit of on property vs. something like the Wyndham on International Drive (just an example).

The cost difference is really big and you still get early access to the Parks so I’m really gauging if it’s actually worth it to stay at a value resort over something close but not on property?

It’s both our first times is a very long time so just trying to make the most out of a tighter budget but still doing what we can to enjoy our time!

EDIT: Forgot to clarify this is through their vacation packages
