Will not enrolling in Selective Services affect N-400 application?

Hello everyone,

I’m seeking advice regarding my friend’s N-400 application. He is 34 years old and ready to apply for U.S. citizenship. He originally came to the U.S. in 2014 on a B-2 visa when he was 23 and overstayed. Three years ago, at the age of 31, he became a permanent resident through marriage to a U.S. citizen.

He recently learned that he was supposed to register for Selective Service between the ages of 18 and 26 but didn’t because he was unaware of the requirement. Since he is now over 31, will his failure to register affect his naturalization application?

I’d appreciate any insights or similar experiences. Thank you!
