I am too scared to resign... despite everyone telling me to take this new job

Hi all,

I have been offered a job (I have accepted verbally but have not received anything in writing as of yet - of course I will wait until I receive this).

However, I am bricking giving in my resignation to my boss for the following reasons:

• My boss appears to be planning for me at the company for the foreseeable future. We are even hiring someone shortly who will assist me and him with our work.

• My boss wants me to qualify and said that he would pay for my exams. I believe he will think I misled him if I did break the news.

• I am just not good in general with these situations and my boss is quite an emotional person.

Everyone is telling me to accept the new job and hand in my notice (I am not even sure how I would do this!) for various reasons such as more pay, more annual leave in the new job - please refer to my previous post for more information!

I am a bit of an empath and I care too much about others feelings at the detriment of my own. Please Reddit be hard on me and tell me directly if I am being ridiculous.
