Characters who are exactly who you think they are, but for various reasons aren’t referred to as the name everyone knows them as
- Michelle Jones (MJ Watson)
Very clearly meant to be the MCU’s take on Mary Jane Watson, just given a new take for this universe to differentiate itself from past iterations, as the MCU take on Spider-Man as a whole specifically wanted to focus characters that hadn’t been given a big role in past films, which is why characters like Ned Leeds, Mysterio, The Vulture, and more are given prominent roles
- Jeremiah and Jerome Veleska (The Joker)
Gotham had a lot of weird rights issues relating to their characters. Actor Cameron Monaghan stated they were barred from using the character all together, including his likeness, which is why he looks so visually distinct. One of the show’s producers even stated while technically he’s not The Joker, they’re indirectly shaping what The Joker is supposed to be.
- Devil Ray (Black Manta)
Due to an Aquaman project being in the works at that time, Black Manta was strangely off the table for the DCAU. This is even weirder considering Aquaman appeared multiple times. Devil Ray was killed off in the show via a possessed Batman, but he was retconned into the comics as a former henchman of Black Manta and black nationalist.
- Agent Spider (Spider-Man)
Very obviously meant to be Spider-Man, given the Josh Keaton voice, the villain resembling Doc Ock, and Invincible and Spider-Man had a crossover in the comics.
