Weird request- need advice

So my brother found this old lamp shade and wants me to remove a few layers from the top (it’s actually the base but whatever, he is wanting that to be the top). He is gonna turn it into some table display piece and put fairy lights in it.

Is it possible to me to remove the red line and upwards? He wants it shortened and does not care about the metal base thing being put back on.

I know I would need to heat all the solder off but is this an impossible project? Do y’all have any advice.
