TP5 Pix pattern wear
I bought a dozen used (“5A” condition) TP5 pix balls when the firmware update to support then was released.
On average I have been playing about a round a day (yeah it’s a lot - don’t judge me), and I have noticed some pretty significant wear of the printing on some of the balls. Some are still pretty good, maybe because they were less used to begin with or were recovered from the woods instead of a water hazard.
Brand new TP5 balls are pretty expensive, but I guess they should last longer before showing signs of wear than the used ones.
Does anyone have any rights/insights about best value for money considering the price and longevity of used 5A or “pristine” balls vs new?
I intend to retire the balls with worn printing to use on real courses. Should I be concerned about them being “beat up” internally and performing poorly by the time the print is worn? I’m a high handicapper, so I never really worried too much about golf ball performance until now.
