All those complaining about unfair NS system, what is your solution other than surrendering sovereignty to a bigger power?

With a fertility rate in the gutters, and being an independent country in a hostile neighborhood, Singapore has 2 choices:

(1) Wholesale replacement migration.

Note that if you place a national defense burden on new arrivals, it will result in the inability to attract quality new arrivals. Any I use the word "quality" to mean anyone with half a brain.

99% of Sinkies would dodge NS if it was legal to do so. Now put yourself in the shoes of moderately skilled foreigners who actually have a choice.

If you tax new arrivals 20% extra, or require new arrivals to spend their weekends doing ICT, then you will only attract desperate people with nowhere else to go.

(2) Very low or zero migration.

Then Malays become 50% and Singapore rejoin Malaysia. Or USA/China come in and take over.

Conclusion: TakBolehLand is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
