Sims 3 Store Points

Hi!! I'm trying to find a way to buy Sims 3 points in the store- but it's just frozen and doesn't do anything when I click on "buy sims points" - I play on Steam, not sure if that matters, I keep seeing "buy on the EA app" and to quote the great Michael Scott: "Why don't you explain this to me like I am five"
