No longer building in a vacuum

I suffer from the engineers dilemma.

I build shit without talking to any potential customers. This results in a fake feeling of productivity. "Wow so many features" but did anyone ask for them or express that not having those features was an issue? "umm no..."

Not anymore.

Instead of hacking at all today, I called 10 potential users of an app idea i had.

8 people answered my call, 6 weren't that interested. 1 was way excited, and another pointed me to different guys I should talk to.

I'm going to continue calling 10 businesses a day, asking them real questions about their operations and what they feel could be made better.

I'll do this before I even buy a domain.

The thing is, I actually love talking on the phone, and this saves me from building in the wrong direction.

AAAAAAH
