How did Clairen's jank boxes get addressed before Ranno's?

The backwards hit should NOT extend that far back on a disjointed move that sweeps from front to back

the animation just literally lies, why even have the leg at an angle if it doesn't matter where it's pointing?

The backwards hitting part of any hitbox should correlate with how disjointed the move is. The more disjointed a move, the further forwards the reverse hitbox should be. Even if that means some moves don't have a body hitbox. Like Clairen's hilt should be the reverse hitting part, not her back. Unless the animation specifies a sweeping motion or spin that actually covers that part, this is how reverse hits should work.
I've been happy with the tuning they've been doing regarding these hitboxes on the rest of the cast but somehow Ranno slipped through the cracks despite having some of the most prevalent ones. They should definitely move away from this kind of stuff to make characters better and instead buff characters in other, more interactive, ways. Given Ranno's speed and mechanical skill ceiling it's sad to see those kinds of hitboxes on him
