Anxiety about post-grad
Hi PR friends,
I am graduating this year from a 4 year bachelors PR program. Due to more than half of my education being virtual due to the pandemic, I don’t feel I’m very prepared for the world of PR and it’s sent me in a bit of a spiral. I’m very unsure where I want to work or what I want to do.
I think I would be best suited for corporate communications, but it feels very stressful to pick an industry/niche so early. I’m also very indecisive and don’t have a love for one specific industry (beauty, tech, etc.) On the other side of things, agencies seem quite stressful! I don’t know if I’d do well with traditional PR.
My question is this: should I start focusing on finding an agency I would like to work for after graduation, or try and pinpoint an industry? For my peace of mind, I want to have at least an idea of the type of jobs I will search for and begin to network in those areas. Are agencies really that bad? I am 24 and in Toronto.
