Advice request

I was wondering if I could request advice from you guys on here. This is my third water heater in 6 years. Apparently I have very hard water in my area. I've been descaling every year but might have to do it more often. I already have a replacement and any advice on how to maximize life would be appreciated. I can't afford a water softener system yet, any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
